Big Day with Bat: Robles 5-for-6
Thursday, June 18th , 2026
Even as a kid, Franklin Robles said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Citi Field, Robles showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 24-year-old catcher had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Syracuse Mets, helping his team knock off the Memphis Redbirds by a score of 10-9.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Franklin Robles hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
This year, Robles has collected a .309 batting average to date with 58 hits in 188 at-bats, 29 RBIs, 2 home runs and scored 13 times. He has played in 49 games.
