Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the San Francisco Giants and Lake Wylie Renegades.
The Lake Wylie Renegades got a superb performance from pitcher John Mannon, but the San Francisco Giants still won the game, 7-3. Mannon threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. San Francisco pitcher Sumiya Sasaki earned the win, hiking his record to 1-2. Vic Garcia suffered the loss.
Ricky Leon came through with a big-time hit for San Francisco. The left fielder smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It never gets old," said Leon. "Winning, that is."
Today's win puts San Francisco at 37-37, while Lake Wylie falls to 43-32.
